Trauma to the body can be both problematic and useful. It can damage and destroy the body, making identification and the creation of a biological profile difficult. Yet, studying the trauma can also reveal information about weapon used, the cause of the trauma and the context of injury and death. Much work still needs to be conducted in this field so that we can use traumatic features to our advantage.
